Monday Night Football brings us the battle of arguably the two best teams in the league, as Patrick Mahomes leads the Kansas City Chiefs into Baltimore to take on Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. The odds favor the home team in this matchup, as the Ravens are 3.5-point favorites. The point total is high at 54.5, implying 29.5 points for the Ravens and 25.5 points for Miami.the Chiefs
Both teams have won their first two games, with the Ravens scoring 71 points and allowing 22 in their first two, while the Chiefs won easily on opening night, but were taken to the wire by their division rival Chargers.
As almost 3.5-point favorites, Ravens backers are in the minority at DraftKings Sportsbook. Betters are instead backing the Super Bowl Champions as road underdogs. Sixty-eight percent of the handle and 71 percent of the bets lean toward Kansas City. The same is true on the moneyline, with 78 percent of the handle and 75 percent of the bets favoring the road team.
As for the point total, the over is far and wide the preferred bet, with 93 percent of the handle banking on the game going over 54.5 points. The percent of bets made are also dramatically on the over, with 92 percent leaning over and just eight percent under.
In his short career, Mahomes has gone 5-0-1 against the spread when playing as the underdog while Jackson has gone 5-10-1 against the spread when he’s been a home favorite. Of course, this Ravens team looks much better than the team the Chiefs beat in Kansas City Week 3 of last season, while the Chiefs had trouble with a Chargers team that just lost to the Panthers.
In the end, there’s no doubt that both teams have the coaching and personnel to win this game. Will the Ravens continue their regular season winning streak or will the Chiefs show up to assert their dominance as the NFL’s best team?
