The NASCAR Xfinity Series will kick off the weekend with the Sports Clips Haircut VFW 200 at Darlington Raceway. The race will begin at 12:30 p.m. ET and will be aired on NBC. We’ll go over the betting favorites and how the starting grid will be determined below.

The starting grid has been determined by random draws that take team owner points into account since the restart, but last week NASCAR announced that qualifying will work differently in the three national series (Cup, Xfinity, Gander Outdoors Truck) moving forward. Here’s a breakdown of the new system.

Three performance metrics will be utilized, with each one weighted a little different. It breaks down as follows.

  • Finishing position from the previous race (weighted 50%)
  • Ranking in team owner points standings (35%)
  • Fastest lap from the previous race (15%)

Denny Hamlin (-125) is the favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook. He’s notched two top five finishes in his last three starts at Darlington. He’s trailed by Chase Briscoe (+500), who won his last race at Darlington in May. Then there’s Xfinity Series points leader Austin Cindric (+600). He fell outside the top three for the first time in nine races at Daytona last week but remains one of the most consistent active drivers in the field. Justin Haley is considered a long shot at +5000, but won last week’s WaWa 250 and will be the pole sitter at Darlington.

Here’s what the rest of the field looks like for Saturday’s Xfinity Series race.
