The DK Nation staff shares their favorite plays for the 2020 NBA Finals between the Lakers and Heat.

Game 1 of the 2020 NBA Finals is set to begin on Wednesday, and the Los Angeles Lakers are set to face off against the Miami Heat. There are a ton of betting options centered around the championship series on DraftKings Sportsbook, and Ben Zweiman and I have identified some of our favorite bets for the matchup.

Ameer: Lakers to win series 4-1 (+275)

Most bettors will wager on the Lakers winning, and I think they’ll come out on the top as well. I guessing the exact score of the series makes things a little more interesting, The option with Los Angeles winning 4-1 (+275) is most appealing to me.

The Lakers dropped Game 1 to the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round and the Houston Rockets in the second round. LeBron James has used Game 1s to feel things out, but the Heat play every game like it’s their last and are undefeated in Game 1s this postseason. The Heat beat the Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks by double-digits in the opening games of their first two series. Miami’s playoff record (12-3) is just as good as Los Angeles’s, so I don’t see the Lakers winning with a sweep.

Ameer: Anthony Davis to win Finals MVP (+250)

James is the favorite at -155, but Davis has just as much of a chance to win. Both James and Davis are averaging more than 17 shots per game. James has an edge in rebounds and assists, but Davis has scored more points and been more efficient from the field. There’s no doubt in my mind that James will continue to do a little but of everything and stuff the stat sheet, but Miami’s wing-loaded roster is more suited for containing James than stopping Davis. If Davis can neutralize the impact of Bam Adebayo and lead all scores like he did twice against the Heat in the regular season, he could come away from his first NBA Finals appearance with an MVP Award.

Ben: Lakers to win series 4-2 (+325)

I’m going to be completely honest with you. I sort of want to take the Heat to somehow win this series. They’ve been the underdog the entire playoffs. Nobody thought they would be here and they’re here. The logical choice is this. The Lakers to win but get pushed just a little bit in the process. L.A. has won every series 4-1 but I think the Heat are the toughest opponent they’ll see up to this point. Jimmy Butler didn’t get this far to go out in five games. Though I don’t know if Jimmy has enough to take down Anthony Davis and LeBron James. I’m going to go with the Lakers pre-series start but I’d suggest seeing how Game 1 goes and making a decision after that.

Ben: Anthony Davis to win Finals MVP (+250)

I’m with Ameer on the AD train for MVP. He’s been the best player for the Lakers all playoffs. If LeBron wasn’t LeBron, if it was anybody else, Davis is probably favored to win MVP. Instead, we get a great number on the player who should be the high scorer on the team who is heavily favored to win the NBA Finals. I think we’ll see early on in the series the Lakers plan is to get AD the ball. It’ll be tougher on LeBron to win MVP unless he absolutely dominates. Davis’ defense will be important in this series and he should have an easier time with Bam Adebayo than LeBron with Butler and the Heat wings.
