The Washington Football Team will likely be without a burgeoning star on Sunday when they face the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4. Rookie defensive end Chase Young is expected to miss the game, according to Ian Rapoport.
Young suffered a groin injury in Week 3, and Rapoport said that he will be week-to-week after Week 4, which suggests he could miss more time. The timing could not be worse for Washington, who just put Matt Ioannidis on injured reserve with a torn biceps muscle.
Washington spent the second overall pick on Young and he has paid immediate dividends. He leads the team with 2.5 sacks and has been a big reason the team ranks first in adjusted sack rate. His absence is a big one as Washington prepares to face Lamar Jackson and the dynamic Ravens offense.
In Young and Ioannidis’ absence, Washington’s defense will be counting on Ryan Kerrigan and Montez Sweat to build on solid starts to the season. It will be an uphill climb in Week 4 against the Ravens.
