Friday update: The Saints have ruled out Jared Cook due to his groin injury.
Thursday update: Cook missed a second straight day of practice on Thursday due to his groin injury.
The New Orleans Saints kicked off their first practice of Week 4, and tight end Jared Cook was nowhere to be seen, according to reporter Nick Underhill. Cook suffered a groin injury in Week 3 against the Packers and was replaced by rookie Adam Trautman.
Cook had two receptions for 21 yards at the time of the injury. Trautman — a third round pick — caught two passes for 17 yards in his place. The Saints travel to face the Detroit Lions in Week 4.
This news comes amidst word Michael Thomas has returned to practice. If Thomas returns, it would cushion the blow of losing a strong red zone threat in Cook.
