It’s a gatekeeper vs. an undefeated UFC rookie in heavyweight battle at UFC on ESPN 9 this Saturday as Alexandr Romanov faces Marcos Rogerio de Lima live from the Apex facility on the preliminary card.
Romanov is 11-0 as a cagefighter, and makes his debut here. Mostly fighting out of the Eagles Fighting Championship, he has 11 career finishes with five KO’s and six submissions. The 29-year-old from the Republic of Moldova goes by the nickname “King Kong,” but hasn’t fought since beating Sergio Freitas in the first round in February of 2019.
Rogerio de Lima is 17-6-1, with a 6-4 record in the UFC. The 35-year-old from Sao Paolo, Brazil has 15 career finishes, including 12 by knockout. He averages 3.78 significant strikes per minute in the black octagon, and on February 23rd knocked out Ben Sosoli in just 88 seconds in his last bout.
