A pair of fighters that are 1-1 in the biggest MMA promotion will lift the lid on UFC on ESPN 9 Saturday night as Cole Smith takes on Hunter Azure live from the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas.

Smith is 7-1 as an MMA professional, falling to Miles Johns by split decision for his first loss on September 14th last year. The Vancouver, BC native has averaged just 1.63 significant strikes per minute during his two distance bouts in the black octagon, and has three total takedowns in that same span. “The Cole Train” is 31 and fights out of Team Quest Thailand.

Azure enters at 8-1 career, falling to Brian Kelleher on May 13th via second-round KO in his last outing. The Montana native has four finishes on his resume, three by knockout. He’s fought at featherweight previously, but drops to 135 for this one and made weight with seeming ease. The 28-year-old brings in much more activity, averaging 4.71 strikes per minute as well as 1.55 takedowns per full fight. He also defends shots at grounding attempts at an 81% clip.
