How to watch Golden Knights vs. Stars conference finals playoff series

The Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars face off in the Western Conference finals of the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs. We break down what to watch and how to watch on TV and via live online stream.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs chugs along and we are now moving into the conference finals. The No. 1 seed Vegas Golden Knights will face off against the No. 3 seed Dallas Stars in the Western Conference finals and the No. 2 seed Tampa Bay Lightning will face off against the No. 6 seed New York Islanders in the Eastern Conference finals. The winners of each series will face off in the Stanley Cup Finals.

The full series dates and times have not yet been announced, but Game 1 is officially scheduled. The puck will drop in Edmonton at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, September 6th. The game will air on NBC, CBC, TVAS, and SN. The rest of the series will be finalized shortly.

The Golden Knights and Stars met up in each of their first game of round robin play to open the playoffs. Dallas scored three goals in the second period to take a 3-1 lead, but Vegas poured in four goals in the third period to win 5-3. Mark Stone and Nate Schmidt each had one goal and one assist for Vegas, while Miro Heiskanen had three assists for Dallas.

The Golden Knights are favorites in Game 1 at DraftKings Sportsbook, while we do not have a series line as of initial publication. Vegas is -167 on the money line for Game 1, while Dallas is +145. The puck line is 1.5, with Dallas +1.5 priced at -195 and Vegas -1.5 priced at +160. The total goals sits at 6.

We don’t have a series line, but we do have odds on exact outcome of the series. All four potential Golden Knights outcomes (4-0, 4-1, 4-2, 4-3) are favored over the Stars outcomes. Golden Knights in five is the favorite at +375, followed by Golden Knights in six at +385. Over 5.5 games is currently installed at -150, with under 5.5 games at +125.

This marks the second conference finals appearance in three seasons for the Golden Knights. They advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals in their previous appearance. Vegas went unbeaten in the round robin play to earn the No. 1 seed. They followed that up with a 4-1 series victory over the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round of the playoffs. The Vancouver Canucks took Vegas to seven games in the conference semifinals, but the Golden Knights prevailed. Golden Knights defenseman Shea Theodore is tied for ninth in the league in playoff points. Goalie Robin Lehrer has given up a 1.99 GAA and has a .918 save percentage.

The Stars lost two of their three round robin games to earn the No. 3 seed. Dallas beat the Calgary Flames in six and then edged out the Colorado Avalanche in seven games to advance to the conference finals. This is Dallas’ fifth trip to the conference finals since relocating from Minnesota. They’ve twice advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals in that time. Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen is second in the league in playoff points. Goalie Anton Khudobin has given up a 2.94 GAA and has a .909 save percentage.
