Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said on Friday that rookie running back Cam Akers is getting a light workout in, but will be a game-time decision for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, per Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic.

Akers missed last week’s game because of a high ankle sprain, which he suffered in Week 15. The Rams are hoping that Akers can play as they are already without second-year running back Darrell Henderson, starting quarterback Jared Goff, and standout wide receiver Cooper Kupp.

Henderson suffered a high-ankle sprain in last week’s game against the Seahawks and was placed on injured reserve. If Akers can play, it would give the Rams’ backfield a major boost as they are down to Malcolm Brown, Xavier Jones, and Raymond Calais.

Before missing Week 16, Akers was starting to pick up steam and make his claim to be the Rams’ feature back. In his last four games, the former Florida State standout had 390 yards on 74 carries and two touchdowns.
