The main fantasy beneficiaries from the Cowboys 37-17 win over the Eagles in Week 16 were the wide receivers. The top three - Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and CeeDee Lamb - recorded personal top-four bests on the season. It’s unlikely that all three will be fantasy relevant again in Week 17, so let’s make sense of this talented receiving corps.
Fantasy Football analysis: Cowboys WRs Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, CeeDee Lamb
The New York Giants rank 13th in fewest allowed DKFP per game to opposing wide receivers, which essentially means that it could go either way for the Cowboys catchers. In their Week 5 battle, CeeDee Lamb led the team with eight receptions for 124 yards. That was also the last game that Dak Prescott played this season, which has also resulted in zero games with 100+ receiving yards for Lamb.
Over the past six games with Andy Dalton healthy, CeeDee has seen the fewest targets (36) among the trio. Amari Cooper has attracted 38 targets, but Michael Gallup leads the way with 42. Not only is Gallup receiving a larger share of Dalton’s attention, he also has pulled in the most touchdowns (four) over that span. With Cooper likely drawing coverage from New York’s James Bradbury, it’s starting to look like Gallup could be the most successful receiving option in Dallas this week. But we can’t ignore that Amari has recorded the most receiving yards per game over the last six games (69.7), followed by Gallup (54.3) then Lamb (49.5). That said, it’s a situation that could quickly go south for any and all three of these pass catchers.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Amari Cooper as a WR3. Only start Michael Gallup or CeeDee Lamb as a FLEX in deeper leagues with many starting roster spots.
