The Fighting Irish (3-6, 0-3) are coming into Sunday’s contest off of a 66-65 loss to the North Carolina Tar Heels last Saturday. Tar Heels guard Leaky Black knocked down the game-winning basket to seal the victory for UNC.
Nevertheless, It was their second-straight loss for Notre Dame and fourth lost in their last five games. Against UNC, Notre Dame forward Nate Laszewski scored a team-high 25 points (9-14 FG, 7-11 3pt FG) and grabbed nine rebounds. He was one of only two Fighting Irish players to reach double-figures.
Notre Dame also shot the ball well, which gave them a chance to win it. They shot 47.3 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from three-point range. The Fighting Irish’s defense was not bad against UNC. They held them to 34.8 percent shooting from the field and from three-point range. But they got dominated on the glass by UNC 49-26.
As for the Hokies (8-2, 2-1), they lost 73-71 to the Louisville Cardinals earlier this week, snapping their four-game losing streak. Virginia Tech guard Jalen Cone led both teams in scoring with 23 points off the bench on 7-of-14 shooting from the field and 6-of-12 from three-point range. Cone was one of four players to score in double figures for the Hokies.
The Hokies shot the ball well, shooting 42.6 percent from the field and 30 percent from three-point range. However, defensively, Virginia Tech struggled as Louisville knocked down 47.3 percent of their shots from the field.

Point Spread, Totals, Odds, Trends
Point spread: Virginia Tech -7
Point Total: 141
Money line: Notre Dame +255, Virginia Tech -315

- Virginia Tech is 7-1 SU in their last eight games in Blacksburg.
The Best Bet
Two teams trending in different directions is a good spot to keep riding the hot team at home. If Cone can continue to contribute like this, the depth of the bench for the Hokies should be too much to overcome.
Pick: VPI -7
