The Senior Bowl is fast approaching and Miami and Carolina have claimed the coaching staffs for the two teams.

The 2020 NFL season still has four weeks remaining, and the 2021 NFL Daft is over three months away. And yet, we are only three weeks away from the first major event of the pre-draft process.

Teams have been evaluating players throughout the year, compiling scouting reports and beginning the preparation of draft boards. However, things really kick into high gear with the annual Senior Bowl. The 2021 Senior Bowl is scheduled for January 30th, and the coaching staffs of the Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers have been selected to handle each of the two teams.

Serving as a coaching staff of the Senior Bowl is a valuable tool for teams in the midst of the rebuilding process. The staffs handle practices all week while implementing a game plan on short notice. They get a chance to speak regularly with the players and see how they handle a new game plan and working with new players. Every team will be represented in Mobile, Alabama for the game, but the other 30 teams don’t get near the access of the two coaching staffs.

This year, that opportunity could be even more valuable. There is some concern about when and where the annual national scouting combine will take place due to COVID-19. If it ends up limited to regional combines, this makes the Senior Bowl a little bit more valuable with all the seniors coming together in one location.
