How the public is betting Justin Fields, Mac Jones, Najee Harris & more in CFP title game prop bets

We take a look at the props available for tonight’s game, and see how people are betting and what they expect from the matchup of the last two teams in college football.

What Bets to look for in the National Championship

Tonight’s College Football Playoff National Championship Game between Alabama and Ohio State should be one for the ages. Two dynamic, explosive offenses take to the field, and with a point total of 75 at DraftKings Sportsbook, expect to see plenty of scoring.

But who will be the players that make such action happen? Let’s take a look at some prop bets for tonight’s matchup in Miami Gardens.

Justin Fields

Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields’ total passing yards is set at 309.5, and the public is split on this. 78 percent of handle is on the under, but 51 percent of total bets is on the over. It seems like the sharper money might be on Fields looking more like he did in the Big Ten Championship Game (114 yards) than in the Sugar Bowl (385 yards).

Fields’ total passing touchdowns is set for 2.5, with 83% of the cash and 58% of the handle coming on the under. With dynamic playmakers like Trey Sermon and Master Teague in the backfield, as well as the quarterback’s outstanding scrambling ability, Ohio State can still make this a competitive game even if Fields fails to throw for three scores.

Mac Jones

Alabama QB Mac Jones has a bit more expectations from the bookmakers, as his over/under is 380.5 passing yards. But again the bettors are expecting less of a throwing throwdown, with 83% of the handle and 56% of the bets on the under. Jones has gone over that number only twice in his last seven outings, but keep in mind there are situations where he’s been pulled early because of such a big lead for the Tide.

Jones is also set for 3.5 touchdowns, but again the under is where the money is: 78% of the cash and 49% of the bets are coming under.

Najee Harris

Crimson Tide running back Najee Harris finished fifth in the Heisman voting, and third on his own offense. But he’s set for 110.5 yards rushing tonight, and bettors thinks he gets there: 80% of the handle and 89% of the bets are on the over, meaning the early bettors think this game gets won on the ground for Bama. His first half rushing total is even more interesting: Set at 55.5, 99% of the bets and the handle is on over.

Trey Sermon

Harris’ counterpart Trey Sermon had a huge Sugar Bowl against Clemson, and is booked for 102.5 rushing yards tonight. The over is getting 70% of the cash and 86% of the bets as of now.

DeVonta Smith

Crimson Tide wide receiver and Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith is locked up with his teammate Harris for first TD honors as of now. Harris is +300 to score the first TD of the game, and Smith is +350 to be the first to score what should be many touchdowns on the evening. Harris is getting 23% of the handle and bets here, with Smith at 20% of both cash and tickets.
