Friday update: Murray was able to get a limited practice in on Friday and is listed as questionable. At this point it looks like he will be a game-time decision.
Thursday update: Murray was absent from practice for a second straight day and his status for Sunday is unclear.
New Orleans Saints running back Latavius Murray missed Wednesday’s practice with a quad injury, per the injury report. Murray suffered the injury against the Bears in the Wild Card round, but if he can practice on Thursday, he would have a good chance of playing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Murray was able to catch a touchdown pass in that game, but he only touched the ball six times. Murray is still one of the best backup fantasy running backs in the league, but as long as Alvin Kamara is healthy, Murray will play second fiddle.
The matchup this week is tough for both running backs, as the Buccaneers are difficult to run on. Both Murray and Kamara averaged under four-yards per carry against them this season. Murray has managed to see at least one target in every game this season and has caught two touchdown passes over his last three games, so he does have some sneaky upside in Showdown games as long as he can get back to practice soon.
