Friday update: Hill was able to get a limited practice in on Friday and is listed as questionable. At this point it looks like he will be a game-time decision.
Thursday update: Hill was absent from practice for a second straight day and his status for Sunday is unclear, but right now he isn’t on track to play.
The New Orleans Saints are gearing up for their Divisional Round matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and are dealing with an injury at “quarterback.” Taysom Hill missed practice on Wednesday because of a knee injury. It’s unclear whether his status for Sunday is up in the air.
Hill was an effective replacement for Drew Brees during the regular season and went 3-1 in his four games as a starter. However, he has hardly a factor in the Wild Card Round. Hill rushed for a touchdown in three straight games to close out the regular season but only tallied 15 rushing yards on four carries in New Orleans’ first-round matchup against the Chicago Bears last weekend.
Hill is a gadget player who can return value when his number is called near the goal line. His absence could raise Alvin Kamara’s potential, as the star running back has watched quite a few scoring plays get drawn up for the backup quarterback in enemy territory.
