What to do with Cam Akers in the Divisional round of the 2021 NFL playoffs

We go over the fantasy football and DFS outlook of Cam Akers ahead of the Rams Wild Card matchup against the Packers in the 2021 NFL Playoffs.

The heart of the Los Angeles Rams offense is in the backfield. The team’s game plans now revolve around running back Cam Akers, and he’ll have to shoulder a big load again this week with the quarterback situation in flux and facing a Packers defense that’s more than capable of shutting down the passing game. As far as fantasy goes, those things make Akers a rather attractive option for your lineup this week.

Fantasy Football analysis: Rams RB Cam Akers, $5,700

Akers carried the ball 28 times for 131 rushing yards and a touchdown against the Seahawks last week. He also caught two passes for 45 yards. He’s had at least 25 touches in his last two games, and he’s had no fewer than 22 in four of his last five. That kind of workload alone makes him a viable fantasy option. He’s also producing. Last week’s outing was the second time in his last four that he’s had more than 170 yards from scrimmage.

Green Bay is going to be tough for the Rams to beat, but if there’s one area where the Packers are vulnerable, it’s on the ground. They gave up more than 4.3 yards per carry to opposing running backs during the regular season.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Akers is a solid start in any fantasy format this week. He’s an especially great option for DFS, thanks in part to his DraftKings salary ($5,700) being so low compared to other running backs available.
