What to do with Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the Divisional round of the 2021 NFL playoffs

We go over the fantasy football and DFS outlook of Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling ahead of the Packers Wild Card matchup against the Rams in the 2021 NFL Playoffs.

Will Jalen Ramsey be able to shut down Davante Adams?

Almost any player from the Green Bay Packers offense is usually an easy decision when it comes to fantasy football, starting with wide receiver Davante Adams. But that is not the case this week when the team faces off against the NFL’s best pass defense. You’ll have to think carefully about adding either of these wide receivers to your lineup this week.

Fantasy Football analysis: Packers WRs Davante Adams ($8,600), Marquez Valdes-Scantling ($3,800)

The Rams have allowed the fewest fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season. Problems for an offense start up front, with a pass rush led by Aaron Donald that has been the NFL’s best team at pressuring passers down the stretch this season. Things aren’t any easier down the field, where a secondary led by Jalen Ramsey will make Adams fight hard for every catch and every yard.

Adams’ ceiling is significantly lower in this one than it normally would be. However, Aaron Rodgers just won’t have the luxury of ignoring him completely. He’ll still get his looks, and considering the fact that he scored in every game but three this season, it’s not out of the question that he’ll find the end zone.

Valdes-Scantling has his work cut out for him too, Cornerback Darious Williams, working opposite Ramsey, is no slouch. He’s allowed a catch rate of just 50 percent this season.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

This is a tough one. Adams is the most expensive receiver in DraftKings this week, which drags down his appeal. But his average level of production is high enough that you can’t just ignore him. I’d probably skip him at that price because you can find higher ceilings among other players. MVS is cheap, but he’s such a volatile producer, that I’d fade him this week against this defense.
