What to do with Baker Mayfield in the Divisional round of the 2021 NFL playoffs

We go over the fantasy football and DFS outlook of Baker Mayfield ahead of the Browns Divisional round matchup against the Chiefs in the 2021 NFL Playoffs.

Previewing Baker Mayfield’s upcoming Matchup Against the Chiefs

The Cleveland Browns got a playoff win since 1994 last week, but they get a tough test this weekend against the reigning Super Bowl champions, the top-seeded Kansas City Chiefs.

For the Browns to have any sort of chance, they’re going to have to score a ton of points and a lot of that will be placed on Baker Mayfield’s shoulders. Will he be up to the task of going toe-to-toe with Patrick Mahomes?

Fantasy Football analysis: Browns QB Baker Mayfield, $DKSalary

Last week Mayfield had a fantastic performance in the 48-37 Wild Card win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He threw for 263 yards and three touchdowns. A lot of that was aided by the defense forcing turnovers, therefore giving the Browns offense a short field. Still, he did what he had to do and put up fantasy points in the process.

It’s unlikely Mahomes and the Chiefs will cough the ball up as much as Pittsburgh, so Mayfield will have a bit more of a heavy lift on his hands. Still, the Chiefs do give up the 12th most fantasy points to QBs in the NFL and the second-most of any team still in the Playoffs (the Browns give up the most), so Baker could have a nice day for himself.

Though the Browns offense tends to be more run-heavy behind Nick Cubb and Kareem Hunt.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Given the matchup, it should be a nice day for Mayfield. He likely won’t be the highest-scoring QB in this game, but if the price point is right, play him.
