On Saturday night the 5-8 Kansas State Wildcats head to Austin to try and take down the No. 4 Texas Longhorns squad.

This could have been seen as an easy game for Texas to overlook, as lowly Kansas State isn’t much of a challenge with a big slate of games on the horizon. But after suffering a loss to Texas Tech last time out, the Longhorns will be sure to show no mercy on the struggling team from Manhattan. The Horns’ offense has been very good all season, scoring over 75 per game on average. The defense has been stout as well, giving up just 65 per game. But recently all of their games have been nail biters. The margin of victory or defeat in four of their last five games is just an average of one possession.

Kansas State has just one Big 12 win on the season and that came against Iowa State, who has been horrible this season. Where Texas usually lets opposing teams hang around, KSU has had issues making games even look competitive. They’ve lost three in a row and the smallest margin of defeat was six points, to this same Texas team last week, and it wasn’t as close as the final score indicated. The Wildcats are scoring just 65 points per game and are giving up over 70 on average, which is not a recipe to win many games.
