Justin Fields announces he will enter 2021 NFL Draft

Fields entering the draft is not a surprise. The question is where he goes in April.

Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Justin Fields announced the expected on Monday, declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft.

Fields wrapped up his junior season with an appearance in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. The Buckeyes lost to Alabama, but it wrapped a two-year stint at Ohio State in which he built up his draft stock to the point that he is likely to be a top ten and potentially top five pick.

Fields played in eight games this past season. He completed 70.2 percent of passes for 2,100 yards with 22 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. The year prior, in 14 games, he completed 67.2 percent of passes for 3,273 yards with 41 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Ohio State lost to Clemson in the CFP semifinals that year.

Trevor Lawrence is the unanimous projection for No. 1 in the 2021 NFL Draft, but it gets interesting after that. We’ve projected Fields No. 2 to the New York Jets in our latest mock draft but, it’s wide open. BYU QB Zach Wilson will compete with Fields to be the second quarterback off the board, and we don’t really know what the Jets plan on doing at No. 2. It will make for a fascinating three months leading up to the draft.
