How and what to watch for Penn State vs. Illinois

Penn State still doesn’t have a conference win, and finding one will be tough tonight against a ranked Illinois team that’s dropped two straight.

A No. 22 Illinois Fighting Illini team that is looking to get back on track faces a Penn State team that has yet to get on track this season tonight in Champaign.

Illinois had won four in a row before dropping back-to-back games to Maryland and Ohio State, both of them at State Farm Arena. Ayo Dosunmu is one of the true stars of college basketball this season, averaging 22.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per outing. If he’s in form, there’s no one from Penn State that can slow him down.

The Nittany Lions are 3-5, 0-4 in the BIG, and allow opponents to shoot 57.8% from the floor, good for 334th in Division I. They’re 3.2 per game on the glass, and guard Myreon Jones deserves the team he had last year instead of this one. The junior guard is scoring 15.4 points per game, but is forced into plenty of bad shots as the best option, so he’s shooting just 39.4% from the field.

The Best Bet

I-L-L has to be pretty... ill... after their last two performances at home. Unless head coach Brad Underwood has totally lost the plot, expect the Illini to get back on track by feasting on the dregs of the league.

Pick: Illinois -10
