How and what to watch for No. 20 Clemson vs. Georgia Tech

Clemson’s offense has been underwhelming, but their defense has been stifling this season.

On Wednesday night the No. 20 Clemson Tigers will be looking to get back on track coming off their second loss of the season last week when they take on the 6-3 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The game tips at 7 p.m. ET and will air via live stream on ACC Network Extra at WatchESPN.

This game presents a drastic contrast of styles, between GT’s high-scoring offense and Clemson’s stingy defense. The Tigers are scoring just 66 points per game, but they’re giving up a mere 60 points per contest. Most of the games the Tigers play are close battles because their offense is unlikely to overpower anybody. Each of their last three wins has come by 10 points or less and the team’s leading scorer is averaging just over 10 points per game. Last time out their defense struggled, losing 85-50 to UVA.

The Yellow Jackets are on a four-game win streak and have the edge in every statistical category outside of points allowed per game. GT is scoring over 80 points per game, which is 14 more on average than Clemson. They also give up 73.3 per game, but in the last five games, GT opponents are actually scoring less than the Tigers’. Tech hasn't allowed a team to break 70 points since Dec 15, which is their most recent loss.

The Best Bet

The spread is your best bet here on this one. While Clemson’s defense is stingy, GT’s offense is really good and their defense has been good enough as of late. Clemson struggled a lot in their last game and their offense won’t be able to hang with the Yellow Jackets if the defense has an off night.

Pick: Georgia Tech +0.5
