Pick against the spread, best player prop for Pelicans vs. Jazz

The Jazz will try to complete the two-game sweep over the Pelicans on Thursday and increase their winning streak to seven games.

In the second national TV game on Thursday night, the New Orleans Pelicans will be taking on the Utah Jazz at 10:00 p.m. ET on TNT. This is the second-game of their two-game mini series, which began on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the Jazz won their sixth-straight game, defeating the Pelicans 118-102. Donovan Mitchell led the way for Utah with 28 points (9-15 FG, 4-7 3pt), seven rebounds, and four assists. Mitchell was one of six Jazz players that reached double-figures against New Orleans.

As a team, the Jazz shot 50.6 percent from the field and a tremendous 44.7 percent from three-point range. On the defensive side, they held the Pelicans to 45.3 percent shooting from the field and 23.1 percent from behind the arc. New Orleans only had two players score more than 10 points, which was a major part in their demise. Zion Williamson had a game-high 32 points but only five rebounds and three assists. Meanwhile, Brandon Ingram recorded 17 points (8-18 FG), four assists, and three rebounds.

What can we expect from these two squads on Thursday night? And who should you pick against the spread? To answer those questions and more, here is our pick against the spread and a player prop you need to put some cash on.

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Utah Jazz, 10:00 p.m. ET TNT

Pick ATS: Jazz -7

The line for Thursday night’s contest is set at seven points, with the Jazz being favored at home. It does not come as a surprise to the Jazz as the favorite, especially with how they’ve played over the course of their winning streak.

The Jazz have won their last six games by an average of 16.2 points. When you factor that in plus the way the Jazz has been shooting the ball from the behind arc —- 43.8 percent in their last three games. It is no brainer to pick the Jazz here, who also have a record of 6-0 against the spread in their last six games. And from the New Orleans’ side of things, if they don’t have a third and fourth scorer to help out Williamson and Ingram, it could be another double-digit loss.

Player Prop: Donovan Mitchell O3.5 3-pointers made (+100)

Looking at this game, I would’ve picked Bogdanovic’s three-point prop, which is over 2.5 three-pointers made because of how he’s shooting the ball right now. But it is currently at -120, therefore I’m going to go with Donovan Mitchell.

As we know, the young guard is a streaky shooter but he puts a good volume of three-pointers in most games. In 14 games this season, he’s gone over 3.5 made threes, seven times so its a 50-percent rate. But during the Jazz’s current six-game winning streak, Mitchell is averaging 3.8 three pointers made on 8.2 attempts per game. He is also shooting a healthy 46.3 percent from behind the arc.
