UPDATE: Jan. 22, 5:53 p.m. — Siakam will play while Lowry has been ruled out Friday vs. the Heat. Norman Powell will start at guard in place of Lowry, so Fred VanVleet will shift over and run the point. FVV is a solid GPP play and Powell gives us some value. This makes Chris Boucher a bit overpriced at $7,300 with Siakam in the lineup.
Toronto Raptors PF/C Pascal Siakam is dealing with a groin injury and is being listed as questionable to play in Friday’s game vs. the Miami Heat. Siakam played 37 minutes in the Raptors’ 111-102 loss to the Heat on Wednesday night. Toronto already has a very thin front court with Aron Baynes at center and Chris Boucher as the backup forward. If Siakam is held out, it could be another tough night for the Raps.
Update: The Raptors are also listing Kyle Lowry as questionable to play due to a foot injury. If both Lowry and Siakam sit, this is a big edge for the Heat. Hop on the spread and ML now before the lines shift. The DFS plays will be Fred VanVleet ($7,800), Boucher ($7,300), Norman Powell ($4,300) and Terence Davis ($3,400).
If Siakam is ruled out, it’s going to be Boucher chalk night. Not only is Boucher one of the front runners to win Most Improved Player, but he’d be tasked with playing a Nick Nurse workload — around 35-40 minutes. Boucher has posted impressive numbers in January, averaging 17.4 points and 6.7 rebounds in 26.1 minutes off the bench. He’s scored at least 20 points in five of the past seven games.
The Heat are still down Jimmy Butler and Avery Bradley, but that didn’t impact things much on Wednesday. Miami could also get Tyler Herro back from injury on Friday. If that’s the case, keep an eye on the opening line for this game. If the Heat get Herro back and Siakam ends up sitting, it’ll be a big swing for the Heat. Toronto doesn’t have much depth and will have problems dealing with Bam Adebayo and Kelly Olynyk.
