Tale of the Tape for Dan Hooker vs. Michael Chandler

In a lightweight battle on the main card of UFC 257, Dan Hooker will fight Michael Chandler Saturday at UFC Fight Island and available on ESPN+ PPV.

The 30-year-old Hooker walks into the octagon with a professional fighting record of 20-9 and ranked sixth in the lightweight rankings. This is third bout in 11 months, with the most recent taking place in June. At UFC on ESPN 12, Hooker lost to Dustin Poirier by unanimous decision.

Hooker’s last win happened in February at UFC Fight Night 168, defeating Paul Felder by split decision. Three out of his last four matches have been decided by split or unanimous decision. “The Hangman” is a competent striker who can also grapple if he needs to in the octagon. Hooker lands 4.98 strikes per minute, with 48 percent striking accuracy. He also absorbs 4.89 strikes per minute, while his defense is at 52 percent.

As for grappling, the New Zealand native has a 0.74 takedown average per 15 minutes and 34 percent takedown accuracy.

Chandler comes to Fight Island with a professional fighting record of 21-5, and this is the first UFC fight in his professional career. The 34-year-old from Missouri last fought in August at Bellator 243, where he defeated Benson Henderson by Round 1 knockout.

“Iron Chandler” has spent 10 years fighting in various Bellator events and before that, he fought at Strikeforce and First Blood. The only stats that we have on record for Chandler is from Strikeforce and First Blood, which go back almost 12 years ago.
