Tale of the Tape for Marina Rodriguez vs. Amanda Ribas

In a women’s strawweight battle on the main card of UFC 257, Marina Rodriguez will take on Amanda Ribas Saturday at UFC Fight Island, and available on ESPN+.

The 33-year-old Rodriguez heads into this weekend’s match with a professional fighting record of 12-1-2 and is ranked eighth in the women’s strawweight rankings. This is the sixth UFC fight in her career having last fought in July at UFC on ESPN 14, where she lost by split decision to Carla Esparza.

The Brazilian mixed martial artist hasn’t won a bout since August of 2019. The 33-year-old lands 5.04 strikes per minute with a striking accuracy of 50 percent. She also absorbs 3.31 strikes per minute and defends against them at 52 percent.

Ribas enters Fight Island with a professional fighting record of 10-1 and is ranked ninth in the women’s strawweight division. This is the fifth fight in her UFC career, and she’s won four consecutive matches dating back to 2019. Ribas last fought at UFC 251 in July, where she ended Paige VanZant’s career in the promotion via Round 1 submission.

Before making the jump to UFC in 2019, the 5-foot-4 fighter competed at Max Fight, Jungle Fight, and Pentagon Combat. Despite Rodriguez being the better striker, Ribas is the better all-around fighter inside the octagon. She has racked up 4.71 strikes landed per minute, with a 45-percent striking accuracy. But unlike Rodriguez, she absorbs fewer strikes at 1.67 per minute and defends them at 73 percent.

When it comes to grappling, Ribas has a 2.28 takedown average per 15, with an accuracy of 54 percent. She does a great job defending against takedowns at 85 percent and has a submission average per 15 minutes of 1.9.
