The Detroit Pistons host the Houston Rockets on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. ET. The Pistons are coming off back-to-back losses, though they got some good news that rookie guard Killian Hayes won’t need surgery for a torn labrum in his hip. The Rockets have dropped three straight and are in full rebuild mode after shipping out James Harden.
The Rockets won’t have multiple rotation players for Friday’s game. Christian Wood has already been ruled out, so we don’t have a revenge spot against his former team. John Wall and Danuel House Jr. will also be sidelined for Houston. As a result, we could see a pretty tight, low scoring matchup. Let’s take a look at some picks for the free to play DraftKings Sportsbook pool.
Who will cover the spread?
Pick: Pistons +1.5
Total Points
Pick: Under 222.5
This line doesn’t take into consideration that Wood and Wall are out for the Rockets. So this is pretty much a gimme in the pool. The live line on the over/under is already down to 214.5 and most of the handle is heavy on the under.
What will be the higher scoring half?
Pick: Second half
Derrick Rose points
Pick: Over 15.5
D-Rose has gone over this total in two of the past three games and it should be a pretty easy matchup off the bench. He could also get some garbage minutes depending on how the game plays out. If it’s close, even better, we could see some crunch time D-Rose.
Jerami Grant points
Pick: Over 24.5
Grant’s line is a bit high but he should have a decent shot at getting to the over despite the low game total. He’s got a great matchup with no Wood in the front court or Houston. Jae’Sean Tate, PJ Tucker and DeMarcus Cousins will be tasked with slowing Grant down. The Rockets are also poor at defending the 3-point line.
Wayne Ellington 3-pointers made
Pick: Under 2.5
Who will have more points, rebounds and assists combined?
Pick: Jerami Grant (Wood isn’t playing)
Who will have the most rebounds?
Pick: DeMarcus Cousins
Boogie is going to start in place of Wood and will likely play around 25-30 minutes. He’s had some pretty good rebounding nights with Wood sidelined this season. The Pistons also don’t have much size to body someone like Boogie outside of Mason Plumlee.
Who will score the most points?
Pick: Victor Oladipo
Dipo has gotten a ton of usage since being acquired from the Indiana Pacers in the Harden trade. He’s averaging 27 points over two games in Houston and this matchup is pretty easy going up against a back court of Delon Wright and Wayne Ellington. Nobody in this game has a higher scoring upside than Dipo, so he’s the chalky pick.
Which team will make more 3-pointers?
Pick: Pistons
