The 17th-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers pulled one of the most impressive wins in the Big Ten season its last time out and will host the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday, January 23 at 2 p.m. ET.
After losing to the Michigan Wolverines 82-57 and Iowa Hawkeyes 86-71 in consecutive road games, Minnesota returned home to beat Michigan 75-57 last Saturday. The Gophers’ scheduled matchup with the Nebraska Cornhuskers was postponed due to COVID-19 issues with the Nebraska program. The Gophers rank 23rd in the latest KenPom rankings and are 11-4 overall including 4-4 in Big Ten play in a tie for seventh place in the conference.
Maryland comes in losing four of its last five Big Ten games, and unfortunately had to play Michigan after a loss earlier this week in a 87-63 drubbing. The Terrapins rank 53rd in KenPom, and their strength comes on the offensive end. Maryland’s adjusted offensive efficiency ranks 28th, while its defense checks in at No. 98. The Terrapins are 8-7 overall this season and 2-6 in conference play, 12th in the Big Ten.

The Gophers got a huge pick-me-up win against Michigan last Saturday, causing the Wolverines to turn around and take their frustrations out on a sputtering Terrapins team earlier in the week.
Minnesota has been money at home in Big Ten play this season with their closest victory being a 102-85 overtime victory over Iowa on Christmas. Expect them to keep that up on Saturday in Minneapolis.
