The Detroit Pistons are listing both PF Blake Griffin (load management) and PG Derrick Rose (knee) as out for Saturday’s game vs. the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers also announced that C Joel Embiid is questionable heading into the game due to a back injury. The Pistons have been giving Griffin and Rose games off sporadically throughout the season. Detroit is coming off a close loss to the Houston Rockets on Friday night, so Griffin and Rose will sit on the second night of a back-to-back.
With Griffin and Rose sidelined, the Pistons will have a short bench. We could see one of two names enter the starting lineup for Griffin. Josh Jackson and Saddiq Bey. Jackson ($3,700) has started games before and the Pistons could insert him at SF and move Jerami Grant ($7,800) to PF. Bey ($3,100) has also filled in nicely, so the same can be said for him. Both players will be appealing value options. Mason Plumlee ($5,600) isn’t a bad tournament play as well. He should get more rebounding chances with no Griffin, more minutes and more usage as well.
The Pistons were 7-point dogs before this news broke. While Embiid could be held out, the Sixers should still be in a good spot. With Griffin and Rose out, we could see this line jump up to double digits considering how well the Sixers have played this season. Both teams are on the second of a back-to-back as well. If Embiid sits, I like the under a decent amount at 218. That would likely go down if the Sixers rule out Embiid.
