What to do with Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the NFC Championship

We go over the fantasy football and DFS outlook of Marquez Valdes-Scantling ahead of the Packers matchup up against the Bucs in the NFC Championship.

Why Marquez Valdes-Scantling is a great DFS value play this weekend

Marquez Valdes-Scantling was kind of the odd man among the Green Bay Packers wide receivers last week. That’s not to say he didn’t have a role to play in their win over the Rams, but he finished the game with 33 yards on four catches, which isn’t exactly fantasy gold. So what about this week when they take on the Buccaneers in the NFC Championship?

Fantasy Football analysis: Packers WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling, $3,900

What’s most interesting about MVS’ line from last week is that he did see eight targets, so it’s not like the Packers just wrote him out of the game plan. The problem with Green Bay’s receivers after Davante Adams, is that it varies from week to week which one has a bigger supporting role. Last week, it was Alan Lazard handling those duties wit his incredible 58-yard touchdown. MVS’ value is his speed and ability to stretch the field on a chunk play, but that’s a boom or bust proposition when it comes to fantasy.

I expect the Packers to throw plenty this week. Tampa’s defense is good, but it’s not invulnerable to receivers. The question you’ll have to ask yourself is whether or not you want to take a chance on MVS making a big play.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Valdes-Scantling isn’t a bad option for a third receiver in most lineups. He’s dirt cheap in DraftKings leagues, and has the kind of upside that could really payoff.
