What to do with Robert Tonyan in the NFC Championship

We go over the fantasy football and DFS outlook of Robert Tonyan ahead of the Packers matchup up against the Bucs in the NFC Championship.

Robert Toyan caught all four passes thrown his way last week, helping push the Green Bay Packers past the Los Angeles Rams and into the NFC Championship game. He finished with 60 yards on the day, but did not find the end zone. But maybe that will change this week against the Buccaneers.

Fantasy Football analysis: Packers TE Robert Tonyan, $3,600

Tonyan had been a scoring machine for the Packers down the stretch this season. He had six touchdowns in his last seven games. And while he didn’t find the end zone last week, interestingly enough, his 60 yards were the most he’s had since Week 12. In other words, the tight end is still an important part of this offense.

But can he make a difference against the Bucs? Anything is possible when you’re on Aaron Rodgers’ speed dial for targets, and Tampa Bay is just middle of the road when it comes to stopping tight ends (ranked 16th against the position in DraftKings.) The Bucs have allowed nine touchdowns to tight ends this season, and given his role in the red zone, it’s not a stretch to think he can score this week.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

What makes Tonyan appealing here is his price tag. He’s the second-most expensive tight end in DraftKings leagues, but it’s a steep drop from Travis Kelce to him. Plus, Kelce is easily going to be the most owned player at the position this week. I’d feel good about having Tonyan in my lineup.
