Clyde Edwards-Helaire appears to be on track towards seeing his first game action in more than a month this Sunday. What should we expect from the rookie against the Buffalo Bills?
Fantasy Football analysis: Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, $5,000
Bell hasn’t played since Week 15, when he suffered a left ankle sprain and left strain. However, there is a glimmer of hope heading into the AFC Championship as CE-H was a limited participant in KC’s three practices this week. By comparison, was sidelined for the Chiefs’ last two practices before their playoff game against the Browns.
That’s the good news. The bad news is that in CE-H’s absence, Darrel Williams has played like a man who deserves snaps and carries moving forward. He has racked up 124 rushing yards on 23 carries in his last two games. So, perhaps this is a timeshare against the Bills. That would be a shame since the Chiefs had success with a run-heavy game plan against Buffalo back in Week 6. On that day, Edwards-Helaire galloped for 161 yards on 26 carries and recorded a season-high 23.9 DraftKings points.
The Bills allowed 1,550 rushing yards and 15 total TDs to running backs during the regular season. The Colts’ RBs gained more than 160 yards on the ground during Wild Card weekend in Buffalo, and the Ravens’ backs registered 84 yards on 20 carries.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
This matchup is ripe for a Chiefs running back. We just don’t know which one will be the lead man in this game. At just $5,000 — $200 more than Williams — Edwards-Helaire is worth a short in some GPPs. But it might be best to avoid this muddled backfield in cash games. If anything. CE-H’s workload may be scaled back considering his long layoff.
