Chiefs easily cover vs. Bills, over hit in AFC Championship Game

The Chiefs broke open the AFC title game in the third quarter and cruised to the cover. We break down the odds.

Breaking Down the Chiefs AFC Championship Win Over the Bills

The Kansas City Chiefs started slow against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game, but picked up steam and cruised to a 38-24 victory. The Chiefs are now headed to Super Bowl 55 to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Super Bowl is the biggest single gambling event of the sports calendar, but plenty was wagered on the NFC title game. Here’s a quick look at how the point spread and point total odds closed at DraftKings Sportsbook and the result for this game.

The point spread for the game opened at Bills -1.5 when Patrick Mahomes’ status was uncertain due to a head injury. The line quickly moved to Chiefs -3.5 that day even without more information on Mahomes’ status. The line eventually settled at a field goal, with 67 percent of the point spread handle on the Chiefs. The Bills gave the Chiefs a tough time early, but repeated field goal settling cost them and the Chiefs covered.

The point total for the game opened at 50.5 and closed at 54.5 just before kickoff. 59 percent of total handle was on the over. The game went over the opening point total on Travis Kelce’s fourth quarter touchdown with 7:36 to go. It went over the closing point total on Isaiah McKenzie’s fourth quarter touchdown with 4:08 to go.
