The Los Angeles Clippers will be trying to extend their winning streak to eight games when they take on the Atlanta Hawks Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Clippers are coming into not at full strength as they will be without Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, and Pat Beverley.
The Clippers (13-4) are coming off of a two-game sweep over the Oklahoma City Thunder this past weekend. In both games, Los Angeles won by an average of 11 points. On Sunday, Leonard recorded a game-high 34 points (14-24 FG, 4-9 3pt), nine rebounds, and eight assists. He was one of five Clippers’ players that were in double figures. Now without George, Leonard, and Beverley, head coach Tyronn Lue will look towards Serge Ibaka, Marcus Morris, Nic Batum, and others to hold down things in the scoring department.
As for the Hawks (8-8), they are coming off a 14-point loss to the Milwaukee Bucks after winning three consecutive games. In that game against the Bucks, the Hawks were without both Trae Young and Clint Capela. Therefore, second-year forward DeAndre Hunter led the way with a game-high 33 points on an efficient 13-of-21 shooting from the field. Along with Hunter, John Collins pitched in with 30 points (12-19 FG, 6-9 3pt), seven rebounds, and three assists.
What can we expect from these two teams on Tuesday night? And can the Hawks snap the Clippers winning streak without the likes of Leonard, George, and Beverley? To answer those questions and more, here is our pick against the spread and a player prop you need to put some cash down on.
LA Clippers vs. Atlanta Hawks, 7:30 p.m. ET, NBA TV
Pick ATS: Hawks -5
The line for Tuesday night’s contest on the three-game slate is set at five points, with the Hawks being favored at home. The Clippers will be without their top-two leading scorers in George and Leonard, which will put more pressure on the others players to replace almost 50 points per game. The Hawks should have Trae Young back in the starting lineup, who is beginning to play better recently. Young is averaging 33.7 points, 9.3 assists, and 5.3 rebounds in his last three games played.
In regards to the spread, before their lost to the Bucks, the Hawks covered three games ATS over the likes of Minnesota and Detroit. The Clippers have a record of 4-1 against the spread in their last five games. The lone lost happened against the OKC Thunder as they were favored to win by 13 points. That being said, I like the Hawks to cover and win with the Clippers missing their best two players.
Player Prop: TBD no prop listed yet for the Hawks
