What to do with John Wolford in Week 17 of the fantasy football playoffs

We go over the fantasy football outlook of John Wolford ahead of the Rams Week 17 matchup against the Cardinals.

The Rams have two pathways to the playoffs in Week 17. The easiest, most direct way is to beat the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, but they’re going to have to do that with backup John Wolford under center. Jared Goff is out with a broken thumb on his throwing hand. It’s always a dicey proposition to turn to an untested quarterback in fantasy football, and you probably should avoid Wolford this week.

The good news for Wolford is that the Rams at least have a decent cast of supporting players. And let’s face it, it’s not like Goff has been a great asset for the team anyway. The most they’re likely to ask Wolford to do is the same as Goff: manage the game and lean on the run.

C.J. Bethard of the 49ers was able to throw three touchdowns against the Cardinals last week, so it’s not as though a backup can’t succeed. (Bethard does have NFL experience though.)

I would avoid John Wolford this week.
