Choosing between the Los Angeles Rams’ two tight ends in fantasy football is a weekly headache. This week, at the end of the regular season with the Rams in a must-win game against the Arizona Cardinals, there’s another wrinkle to it with backup quarterback John Wolford making his very first NFL start in place of an injured Jared Goff.
Fantasy Football analysis: Rams TEs Gerald Everett, Tyler Higbee
Tyler Higbee has had an edge over Gerald Everett lately. Last week, Higbee had six targets for Everett’s three, catching half of them for 34 yards. The week before that, against the Jets, Higbee had four catches on five targets for 67 yards and a touchdown.
Tight ends can often be a friendly option for backup signal callers looking for options on quick, shorter passes. It’s hard to know exactly what this week’s game plan will hold for either player, given the QB situation.
The Cardinals are hit or miss against tight ends. The last time they played the Rams, Higbee had 24 yards and a touchdown on four receptions. Everett had a slight edge in targets in that one, and he ended up with 44 yards on six catches.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Higbee’s use in the red zone and recent edge in targets makes him a risky option for a TE2 this week. And he might be worth a flier at $3,500 in DraftKings leagues. I’d avoid Everett.
