Game day update: Akers is expected to play on Sunday, per Adam Schefter.

After sitting out last week’s game, Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers has a chance to play this Sunday when his team closes out the regular season against the Arizona Cardinals. Akers has been dealing with an ankle injury. He missed the team’s practice sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, but was able to get in work as a limited participant on Friday. He’s listed as questionable for this one, and the team is expected to make a game-time decision about his status.

Fantasy impact: Cam Akers (ankle)

The Rams really need Akers’ help this week. They’ll be without a handful of offensive starters already out for this one, including quarterback Jared Goff, in a game that they need to win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Akers is averaging more than 97 rushing yards per game over his last four outings, and he’s got two touchdowns in that span. That stretch includes a Week 13 game against the Cardinals where he had 72 rushing yards, a touchdown, and 22 receiving yards.

If Akers can’t go this week, Malcolm Brown would handle the lion’s share of the workload out of the backfield, since Darrell Henderson was placed on injured reserve earlier this week.
