There’s some good Big East action happening Saturday afternoon in Newark when the 10-1 No. 3 Villanova Wildcats come to town to take on the 9-7 Seton Hall Pirates.

Villanova has been playing well all season, with their only loss coming in overtime and very early in the year to Virginia Tech. The Wildcats have dominated all of their opponents for the most part, with only two of their nine wins being close. They’re averaging close to 80 points per game and have four players averaging in double figures. ‘Nova’s leading scorer is Collin Gillespie who is averaging close to 16 points per game, and behind him they have Jeremiah Robinson-Earl who gets about 15 every time he steps on the floor. ‘Nova also has pretty solid defense around them, only allowing opposing teams to score 66 points per game and holding Providence to 56 their last time out.

Seton Hall has struggled recently, falling in three of their last five contests. The Pirate offense is solid, scoring 75 points per game, but the defense has struggled giving up well over 70 points each game to the opposition on average. They have three players who average in double figures, but the real key to this team is Sandro Mamukelashvili, he’s scoring almost 18 points per game.

The last time these two teams met just over a week ago Villanova played one of their rare close games, winning by just two points. KenPom isn’t super confident in this matchup either, giving the Wildcats just a 64% chance to win.
