The Los Angeles Lakers have suffered back-to-back road losses and will attempt to end their losing streak in a Saturday matchup against the Boston Celtics in TD Garden. Anthony Davis is questionable with a bruised quad and missed his team’s last game against the Detroit Pistons, and his absence could tip the scales in Boston’s favor. Let’s go over some of the top betting options for the matchup.
Lakers vs. Celtics, 8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
Pick ATS: Celtics +2
The Lakers dropping three games straight doesn’t seem likely, but the Lakers will be at a major disadvantage if Davis misses a second game this week. Los Angeles lost to a Detroit team that’s one of the worst in the NBA, and Jayson Tatum will have a major mismatch at power forward if he’s guarded by Kyle Kuzma rather than AD. Boston has lost one home game this season, but that came when Tatum was still out of commission because of Covid-19 health and safety protocol. This line will move if AD is ruled out, so you might as well bet on the spread while it's close.
Player Prop: Jaylen Brown O2.5 made 3-pointers (+140)
Brown has quietly been one of the most efficient shooting guards in the league from beyond the arc and is converting his attempts from deep at a 44.1 percent clip. He’s attempting 6.4 threes per game and made three or more shots from deep in eight of his last 10 games. His offensive involvement hasn’t changed since Tatum’s return, and he’s scored at least 24 points in six straight games. There’s a lot of value in this play despite the Lakers’ top-notch defense.
