The American Athletic Conference’s top team hasn’t lost at home all season and will look to extend its home winning streak to 10 games on Sunday when the No. 6 Houston Cougars host the SMU Mustangs.
Houston (14-1, 9-1) has only lost to Tulsa in conference play, and that loss came in a thrilling one-point game. Quentin Grimes has carried the scoring load for the Cougars and will need to rebound from the poor shooting performance he had the last time he faced SMU. He was just 3-of-11 shooting with 11 points.
SMU (9-3, 5-3) is no slouch but is looking to gain some momentum after securing splitting a two-game series with Memphis earlier this week. The Mustangs rank third in the conference and depend on the scoring and scoring and passing of Kendric Davis. who leads them in points (17.2) and assists (7.7) per game. He tallied 23 points and 8 boards the last time he faced Houston but couldn’t lead his team to a victory.
