So if we looked at these two teams and their last game, you’d think things would be switched. That the New York Knicks would be coming off a 34-point loss and the Utah Jazz would be coming off a close win. Nope. Not in 2021! The Jazz got blown out by the Brooklyn Nets without Kevin Durant on Tuesday night. The Knicks narrowly escaped the Atlanta Hawks in a 5-point win to move above .500. That’s the power of Tom Thibodeau. If nothing else, the Knicks are going to play their asses off for 48 minutes on almost every night. Let’s take a look at the lines and make some picks for tonight’s matchup.
Utah Jazz vs. New York Knicks, 7:30 p.m. ET
Pick ATS: Knicks +7
This may be a bit of an overreaction to the Jazz getting smashed by the Nets the other night. It also may be that the Knicks are actually kind of good. There are some injuries to note with Reggie Bullock questionable along with Alec Burks and a few others. New York is also set to get back Kevin Knox and Dennis Smith Jr. The Knicks are 4-3 against the spread this season and 1-1 as home underdogs.
The Jazz looked flat on offense against the Nets and the Knicks are actually in the top 15 in terms of defensive efficiency. Unless Utah shoots the lights out early on and pulls out to a big early lead, the Knicks should — at the very least — hang around in this game. The spread is just way too high. My guess is it gets bet down a bit throughout the day, depending on the injury report. It’s also a tough back-to-back for the Jazz. We may see some players get some rest. If that’s the case, getting in on this number while you can is favorable.
