The Denver Broncos play on a short week against the Cleveland Browns for Thursday Night Football this week. Unfortunately, this gives players who are banged up less time to recover. While the team didn’t have an official practice on Monday, running back Melvin Gordon was estimated to have participated in a limited fashion. Gordon has dealt with this injury over the last two weeks so he may have just been given a limited day to rest as much as he could.
If Gordon isn’t able to go, rookie running back Javonte Williams would figure to take the lead role and has been cutting into Gordon’s carries this season.
Fantasy football implications
The Browns are giving up the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. Week 7 is known as bye week hell for fantasy football with six teams on bye this week. If Gordon is active, you should START him in your lineups and Williams is also worthy of a start. Williams would usually be a flex, but with the team playing on Thursday he gets bumped up.
If Gordon sits, fire up Williams with confidence based on workload alone. You will need to keep an eye on Gordon’s status as he goes through the short week.
