In a middleweight bout on the main card for UFC 258, Julian Marquez will take on Maki Pitolo Saturday night live from Las Vegas and available on ESPN+ PPV.

The 30-year-old Marquez enters the octagon as the favorite, despite not fighting in 31 months because of a shoulder injury. “The Cuban Missile Crisis” has a professional fighting record of 7-2, with his last fight taking place at Ultimate Fighter Finale 27 in 2018. Alesso Di Chirico defeated Marquez by a controversial split decision. Marquez will lean on his ability to land significant strikes in the APEX. He averages 3.48 strikes per minute, with only an accuracy of 37 percent.

As for Pitolo, he walks into the UFC APEX with a professional fighting record of 13-7. The Hawaii native last fought at UFC Fight Night 175 in August, where he lost to Impa Kasanganay by unanimous decision.

“Coconut Bombz” Pitolo is a competent striker who will use grappling to his advantage on Saturday night. Pitolo has 2.13 takedowns per 15 minutes and a takedown accuracy of 60 percent in the octagon. He also does a good job landing strikes at 4.2 per minute with 41 percent striking accuracy.

In the second scheduled fight on the main card, we will get our first look at Julian Marquez since his shoulder injury in 2018. The 30-year-old was actually suppose to fight last year, but there were weight-cutting issues with his opponent. Nevertheless he’s still one of the higher-priced fighters on the card. Pitolo has not fared well in MMA DFS, only recording 29 and 11 fantasy points in his last two fights. Over his career, “Coconut Bombz” is averaging a pedestrian 45.2 fantasy points. With that in mind, I’d be more inclined to take a chance on Marquez.
