The Michigan Spartans and Purdue Boilermakers are each coming off a loss going into Tuesday night’s matchup in West Lafayette.

The struggles for Michigan State (10-8, 4-8 Big Ten) continue as they got blown out by the Iowa Hawkeyes at home on Saturday 88-58. This was the most lopsided loss in Tom Izzo’s 26 years as the Spartans head coach. Rocket Watts left the game and was held out of the second half as he was dealing with an illness. Michigan State currently ranks No. 99 in college basketball in adjusted offensive efficiency, and it would take an incredible turnaround for the Spartans to be a part of the NCAA Tournament.

Purdue (13-8, 8-6 Big Ten) is 2-3 in their last five games and is coming off a 71-68 road loss to the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Thursday night. Trevion Williams scored 24 points on 11 of 21 shooting and had 10 rebounds for the Boilermakers. Purdue ranks inside the top 30 in both adjusted offensive and defensive efficiency, and the Boilermakers beat Michigan State 55-54 in East Lansing on January 8th.
