The New Orleans Pelicans will host the Boston Celtics on Sunday in an early afternoon game before the main slate begins. Both teams are hovering around .500 on the year and are loaded with young talent. Oddsmakers are expecting this matchup to be close, but we think one team has a clear edge. Let’s go over the best betting options on DraftKings Sportsbook for the matchup.
Celtics vs. Pelicans, 3:30 p.m. ET, ABC
Pick ATS: Celtics -2.5
Jayson Tatum has been struggling since he returned from Covid-19 but appears to be finding his shooting stroke again. He and Jaylen Brown are both playing at a high level and can go toe to toe with Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson on offense. The Celtics are normally at a disadvantage in the post because of their lack of size and rim protection, but Steven Adams is questionable with an ankle sprain If he’s ruled out, the odds will tip in Boston’s favor.
Player Prop: Brandon Ingram O4.5 assists (+127)
Ingram has tallied at least four dimes in seven of his last 10 games and is averaging 4.8 assists per game on the year. He’s reached five assists in 44 percent of his games this season and will be up against a team with two, top-notch wing defenders. While I don’t expect him to become passive in this matchup, the length of Tatum and Brown are likely to force him to defer more often early in the game. Only Lonzo Ball has a better assists average on the Pelicans.
