The NASCAR Cup Series is back in action on Sunday, once again in Daytona, but this time at the road course. The O’Reilly Auto Parts 253 gets underway at 3 p.m. on FOX with Chase Elliott and Michael McDowell on the front row.
Elliott is a sizable favorite, installed at +200 at DraftKings Sportsbook. Martin Truex Jr. has the second best odds at +450, followed by Ryan Blaney and Denny Hamlin at +1000.
The betting public is backing the favorite in this race. Elliott is getting 26 percent of the total handle and 11 percent of total bets. Last August, he won the Go Bowling 235, which was the last road race at the Daytona Road Course. Hamlin and Truex finished second and third in that race, respectively, so it is no surprise Hamlin is second in handle at 15 percent and Truex is third at 10 percent. The Cup Series does not race many road courses, so it’s no surprise bettors will stick with the recent winners.
The top five in betting handle rounds out with Kyle Busch at eight percent and Ryan Blaney at seven percent. The most significant longshot getting decent action is Austin Dillon, who is getting two percent of handle and sits at +8000 to win the O’Reilly Auto Parts 253.
