The Memphis Grizzlies and Dallas Mavericks are set to face off in one of Monday’s six NBA games on tap. DraftKings has Showdown contests available centered around the matchup, and we've broken down some ideal plays. Both teams have do-it-all point guards, but only one former Rookie of the Year can come out on top.
Update: Porzingis (back) has been ruled out.
Captain’s Picks
Doncic ($18,600) hasn’t played since Valentine’s Day because of several postponements but remains the most dangerous player in this contest. He’s a constant triple-double threat and has scored more than 40 points in each of his last two games. His ceiling floor could be raised if Kristaps Porzingis ($14,100) sits out, as the big man is questionable to play because of lower back pain. One player on Memphis could get a major boost from Porzingis sitting out though.
Jonas Valanciunas ($12,300) has tallied three straight double-doubles. Willie Cauley-Stein, Dwight Powell, and Boban Marjanovic are significant downgrades from Porzingis as scorers and rim protectors. If Doncic doesn’t have a monster game, Valanciunas could be the better option.
FLEX Plays
Kyle Anderson ($7,800) rested when Memphis got blown out by the Phoenix Suns, but he’ll be fresh for this matchup and ready to continue performing at a high level. He’s scored at least 15 points in seven of his last 10 games and has surpassed his DKFP average five times during that span while shooting better than 50% from the field. He’s consistently been the Grizzlies’ third-best player this year and could take on a larger role with Dillon Brooks (thigh) out.
Ja Morant ($8,600) was a dud in Memphis’ blowout loss to the Suns but remains the Grizzlies’ most valuable fantasy asset. Dallas has been one of the better defensive teams against point guards, but Morant’s playmaking gives him one of the higher ceilings in this contest.
Fades
Desmond Bane ($4,200) was underwhelming in his last start and scored just 7.5 DKFP in 24 minutes. Grayson Allen ($6,200) is back after taking the last game off for rest. Memphis has enough wings to avoid featuring Bane heavily again.
The Outcome
If Porzingis is ruled out, Memphis should run away with this game. Dallas has struggled without both their stars while Memphis has been able to get good results despite not being at full strength all year. If Porzingis is active, I like Dallas to win.
Final score: Maveirs win 120-115
