Zion doesn’t rule out participating in 2021 NBA Dunk Contest

Pelicans PF was named to his first All-Star Game on Tuesday and didn’t turn down idea of doing dunk contest.

New Orleans Pelicans PF Zion Williamson was asked Wednesday if he will participate in the 2021 NBA Dunk Contest at halftime of the NBA All-Star Game on March 7 in Atlanta. According to reporters, Zion didn’t say no. At this point, Williamson is undecided. If there was a way for me to insert the “So you’re saying there’s a chance???” GIF from Dumb and Dumber into this article, this is where I would throw it.

Williamson was just named to his first All-Star Game on Tuesday as a reserve for the Western Conference. The most electric dunker in the world would be a huge draw for the NBA, which decided to have an All-Star Game despite the pandemic. Instead of doing the Dunk Contest on Saturday, it will take place Sunday after the second quarter of the actual game. This would maybe be a deterrent for Williamson, who would have to play minutes in the game and then put on another show.
