Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series road race surprisingly ended with Christopher Bell taking the checkered flag, and this weekend’s race could yield another unexpected result. The Dixie Vodka 400 is set to take place on Sunday at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The race will start at 3:30 p.m. ET and be broadcast on FOX.
Denny Hamlin (+500) is the pole sitter and the odds-on favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook. He hasn’t finished outside the top five in the Cup Series this season and won last year’s Dixie Vodka 400 as the pole sitter. It’s not clear if history will repeat itself, but Hamlin has a lot of things going for him ahead of race day. Hamlin will be joined by Joey Logano (+1000) on the first row. Logano has the fifth-best odds and won the race in 2018. Christopher Bell (+2800) is a longshot to win but will start in third on the grid.
NASCAR did not conduct qualifying runs for this race, and is only doing so for eight races in 2021. Due to COVID-19, the Cup, Xfinity, and Truck Series circuits are all using a performance-metrics formula that includes individual race and season-long results. 25 percent for the metric comes from a driver’s finishing position from the previous race, 25 percent comes from the car owner’s finishing position from the previous race, 35 percent comes from the team owner’s points ranking, and 15 percent comes from the fastest lap from the previous race.
Here is the full lineup for Sunday’s 2021 Dixie Vodka 400.
