No. 4 Ohio State fell to No. 3 Michigan in a classic on Saturday. and will face another team from the same Great Lake State, as the Buckeyes visit Michigan State on Thursday for a Big Ten matchup.
Ohio State (18-5, 12-5 Big Ten) had its seven-game winning streak snapped in its last outing by the Wolverines, but have a good chance to get back on track against a team it dominated earlier this season. The Buckeyes claimed a 17-point victory against the Spartans in January. E.J. Liddell and Justice Sueing dominated in the post the last time these two teams met, and Liddell has scored 23 points in two straight contests.
Michigan State (12-9, 6-9 Big Ten) has won two games in a row, and upset No. 5 Illinois on Tuesday. The Spartans have been inconsistent in the Big Ten but have put up good fights against a couple ranked opponents. Aaron Henry’s battle with Ohio State’s bigs will be important for Michigan State. Michigan State’s leading scorer was held to just 10 points on 2-of-8 shooting against Ohio State earlier this year. Tom Izzo’s crew is still fighting for an at-large berth in the NCAA Tournament, and a win here would put them back in contention.
